Meet Ben
I am a UKCP-registered Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Certified AEDP Psychotherapist with over 20 years’ experience working therapeutically with adults, adolescents, children and families.
I have been in private practice since 2016, supporting people with a wide range of difficulties including complex trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, dissociation, grief, loss, abandonment, low self-worth, ADHD, ASD and relationship difficulties.
I offer a calm, thoughtful and relational space where you can begin to explore what has brought you to therapy, at a pace that feels manageable and respectful of your experience.
How I Work
My approach is relational, experiential and tailored to the unique circumstances of each person I work with.
As an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, my training spans the main schools of psychotherapy. This allows me to work flexibly and responsively, drawing on different ways of understanding emotional difficulty while keeping your individual needs at the centre of the work.
As a Certified AEDP Psychotherapist, I also work with a model that is deeply rooted in attachment, trauma healing and transformational change. AEDP stands for Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy. It is an approach that recognises how emotional suffering often develops when difficult experiences have had to be faced alone, and how healing can happen through a safe, attuned and emotionally engaged therapeutic relationship.
I work relationally because change is rarely easy. Therapy can be a difficult and courageous process, and it matters to have a steady, supportive and experienced person alongside you. My role is to offer that support with care, compassion and professional integrity.

Beyond Talking
My experience and training have taught me that insight alone does not always create change.
Understanding why we feel the way we do can be important, but feeling better often requires more than thinking or talking about problems. Emotional pain is not only held in the mind; it is often carried in the body, in our nervous systems, in our relationships and in the ways we have learned to protect ourselves.
Experiential therapy pays attention to this. It helps us work with emotional experience as it arises, supporting the processing of difficult feelings and emotional memories in ways that can bring relief, clarity, resilience and a renewed sense of vitality.
My work is not only concerned with easing suffering, but also with helping people reconnect to what is healthy, alive and resourced within them.

I work with people seeking therapy for many different reasons, including:
trauma and complex trauma
anxiety and depression
grief and loss
dissociation
abandonment and attachment wounds
low self-worth
ADHD and ASD diagnoses
emotional and relational difficulties
feeling stuck, overwhelmed or disconnected
wanting a deeper, more experiential approach to therapy
Some people come to therapy in the midst of crisis. Others arrive with a quieter sense that life has lost its colour, meaning or ease. Whatever brings you here, therapy can offer a place to feel accompanied, understood and supported.

Over the course of my career, I have worked therapeutically in services supporting adults, families, adolescents and children.
Alongside my private practice, I have also taught counselling students on a degree programme for four years and worked as Principal Trainer for Thrive Approach, developing and delivering training across the UK to hundreds of staff working in schools and services supporting children and families.
I have trained extensively in trauma and attachment, and my work is informed by contemporary neuroscience, creativity and a deep respect for the human capacity to heal and flourish in the right conditions.

I am passionate about therapy and about healing.
For me, therapy is not about fixing people. It is about creating the conditions in which emotional pain can be understood, held and transformed. It is about helping people feel more agency, more compassion for themselves, more connection with others and more in touch with their deeper sense of who they are.
I believe that even in our most difficult moments, there remains within us an innate movement towards healing, growth and aliveness. Part of my work is to help make space for that movement to emerge.
Two women who have inspired me deeply in my work are the late Camila Batmanghelidjh, for her extraordinary dedication and love in her work with children and families, and Diana Fosha, founder of AEDP, for her profound contribution to psychotherapy and healing.

I live in North Norfolk with my amazing partner and our two wonderful children.
I am a straight white man and I welcome diversity of all kinds, including sexual orientation, gender, race, age, ability, religion, size, culture and ethnicity. I aim to offer a practice that is inclusive, respectful and affirming, where all are welcome.

I work from a quiet and peaceful space at Grove Farm Wellbeing in Swanton Abbott, North Norfolk, where I offer in-person therapy in a calm and supportive setting.
I also offer online sessions via Zoom for those who prefer to work remotely or are based elsewhere in Norfolk or across the UK.
My hope is that our work together helps you feel less alone, more resourced, and more able to live with freedom, vitality and a stronger sense of yourself.
