Couples Therapy in North Norfolk
Relational therapy for couples in Swanton Abbott, near Aylsham, offering support with communication, conflict, connection and understanding.
A space to slow things down and make sense of what is happening between you
Relationships can become strained for many reasons. You may be finding yourselves caught in repeated patterns of conflict, distance, misunderstanding or hurt. Communication may feel difficult, trust may have been affected, or you may simply feel that something important between you has become harder to reach.
Couples therapy offers a calm and supportive space to explore what is happening between you with honesty, care and curiosity. Rather than focusing on blame, the work is about understanding the patterns in the relationship, making room for each person’s experience, and beginning to find new ways forward together.
I offer couples therapy in person from my office at Grove Farm Wellbeing in Swanton Abbott, North Norfolk.
How couples therapy can help
Couples therapy can support you with:
communication difficulties
recurring conflict
emotional distance or disconnection
feelings of hurt, resentment or misunderstanding
loss of trust
parenting pressures or family stress
life transitions and change
differing needs or expectations in the relationship
longstanding patterns that leave both people feeling alone
Sometimes couples seek support at a point of crisis. Sometimes they come because something feels stuck, repetitive or painful and they would like help understanding why. Therapy can offer a space to pause, reflect and begin working with what is happening beneath the surface.
A relational and emotionally attuned approach
My approach to couples therapy is relational, thoughtful and emotionally attentive.
The aim is to create a space in which both partners feel heard and respected, even when things feel difficult. Together, we look at the patterns that have developed in the relationship, the emotional experiences underneath them, and the ways each of you may be trying to protect yourselves when things feel painful, threatening or stuck.
This process can help bring greater understanding to the relationship and create more space for honesty, connection and change.
Couples therapy is not about deciding who is right or wrong. It is about slowing down the dynamic, understanding what each person is experiencing, and supporting a more connected and constructive way of relating.
What to expect
The first step is an initial consultation as a couple.
This is a 90-minute session where we can meet, explore what has brought you to therapy at this time, and begin to understand what you are hoping for from the process. It is also an opportunity for you both to get a sense of how I work and whether this feels like the right fit.
Ongoing sessions provide a regular space to continue exploring the relationship in a supportive and structured way.
